1.  PHILLIP DEVEREUX  (WILLIAM, REGINALD, ROBERT, ROGER, WILLIAM, ROBERT D'EVREUX the COMTE OF EVREUX) was born Abt. 1130, and died Aft. 1170 in Balmagir, Barony of Bargy (Modern Richfield), Wexford County, Ireland.  He married ALICIA DE HEADON, daughter of ALEXANDER DE HEADON.  He participated in the Norman invasion of Ireland in 1170, and was created Lord of Balmagir

4.  STEPHEN DEVEREUX (STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) of Balmagir was born Abt. 1240 in Balmagir, Barony of Bargy (Modern Richfield), Ireland, and died Aft. 1296.  In 1296 he was knighted.

6.  NICHOLAS DEVEREUX (STEPHEN, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) of Balmagir was born Abt. 1300 in Balmagir, Barony of Bargy (Modern Richfield), Ireland, and died March 11, 1378/79.  He married JOHANNA AUNGER, daughter of NICHOLAS AUNGER.  He was summoned among Magnates of Ireland in 1320

11.              i.       NICHOLAS DEVEREUX, b. Abt. 1370; d. Abt. 1392.

                  ii.       JOHN DEVEREUX, b. Abt. 1372; d. Bef. 1398.

 

7.  ALEXANDER DEVEREUX (STEPHEN, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) was born Abt. 1301, and died Aft. 1346.

9.  WILLIAM DEVEREUX (STEPHEN, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) was born Abt. 1305.  He was Chief Sergeant of County Wexford.

11.  NICHOLAS DEVEREUX (NICHOLAS, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) of Balmagir  was born Abt. 1370, and died Abt. 1392.

The family was described in his time as the "Proud Devereux"

12.  ? DEVEREUX (WILLIAM, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) was born Abt. 1450.  This may be Richard, Walter, or Adam.

                   i.       WILLIAM DEVEREUX, b. Abt. 1470; d. Aft. 1417.

 

Generation No. 8

 

13.  NICHOLAS DEVEREUX (NICHOLAS, NICHOLAS, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, STEPHEN, HUGH, PHILLIP) of Balmagir was born Abt. 1389 in Balmagir, Barony of Bargy (Modern Richfield), Ireland, and died Aft. 1423.  It is apparent that for a prolonged period Nicholas Aunger held Balmagyr as custodian for Nicholas' father, and then again for Nicholas.  As he came of age in 1407 this Nicholas Aunger complained that Nicholas and his brother John had broken into the manor and ill-treated him.  It is apparent that they felt they no longer needed a guardian.

Children of NICHOLAS DEVEREUX are:

                   i.       WALTER DEVEREUX of Balmagir, b. Abt. 1403; d. Aft. 1449.  He fought in the English and French Wars, and was knighted

                  ii.       ADAM DEVEREUX, b. Abt. 1404; d. Aft. 1418.
